Sue Spagnuolo, owner of Greenbush Farms and Dolce Vita Goat Dairy, was the only Capital

region business owner to receive an award from the Michigan State University (MSU) Product

Center at its annual Making It In Michigan conference,

Spagrtuolo received the ”Best Barrier Buster” award for reducing or eliminating barriers to

entrepreneurial success at the local, regional or state level.

Spagnuoio produces farmstead goat cheese, which is a faiHy new production concept in

Michigan.

“I received the award because I have to deal with regulations and people and government and

there’s not many guidelines because there are not that many farmstead goat cheese

producers in Michigan,” she says. **««*. tic

KAH of the cheese is made from my milk,” she says. “It’s not like a large production where the

milk comes in great big bulk tanks.”

This is Spagnuolo’s first year in business. She started selling the cheese at farmer’s markets

and now sells it to local retailers such as Dustvfs Cellar.

wlfs been going very well,*7 she says. wThe demand is there. I’m planning on having more

cheese available and I have some more ideas about what I want to produce/’

Greenbush Farms is located outside of St. John’s in Clinton County

At Dolce Vita Goat Dairy, the tradition of southern Italian food, family and community lives on. For nearly 100 years, four generations of Spagnuolos have served up hospitality and food to communities in mid-Michigan. Family and tradition is the foundation of what we do – and what the old world way is all about.

We are located just outside of St. John’s, Michigan and provide mid-Michigan with fresh, farmstead goat cheese that is handcrafted each step of the way. After milking the goats, we carry the milk from the milking parlor to the cheese processing room. Then, hand poured and ladled from the vat, the cheese is hung to drain, scooped by hand and carefully wrapped to present you with the freshest, smoothest chevre possible.

Greenbush Farm is committed to sustainable practices and building vibrant communities by creating and promoting local products and services. We raise our goats ethically and humanely in a healthy environment, honoring what God has so graciously given us to provide for our needs.

We invite you to enjoy what we believe life should be about: family, community, service and, of course, food.

Bon appetit!
